How Do You Stop A Dog From Biting While Playing?
Does your puppy bite you while playing? They're not going to grow into an aggressive beast — here's how to teach bite inhibition.
Does your puppy bite you while playing? Don't worry — your puppy isn't going to grow into an aggressive beast. Puppies bite because that's how they learn about the world. The job is to teach them which teeth-on-skin pressure is okay and which isn't.
When teeth touch skin: a clear 'ouch', then go still, then redirect to an appropriate toy. If they keep going, calmly end the play session for a few seconds. Repeat consistently. Most puppies have bite inhibition figured out by 16 weeks.
